Linda Ganakis, Luxury Travel Advisor at Accent On Travel

I grew up in a family that took vacationing very seriously. My father would plan our trips for months and told me that it was almost as fun as the vacation itself. He would map out the route and all the sites we would visit, he made it so fun! I became involved with travel when I graduated high school and attended a travel training school. When I graduated, I landed a job as a travel agent.

My professional training and education coupled with my personal travel experience set your travel experiences apart from the ordinary. My clients tell me planning a trip with me sets them at ease knowing I put their desires first and pay close attention to every detail - I am their travel advocate from the planning stage through travel.

What do you love about travel?

Like my father, I enjoy putting together dream vacations. I love receiving a photo from a client on vacation, smiling faces, often holding a glass of wine with amazing background scenery, making memories! I have been very blessed in my life seeing so many wonderful places.

What has been your favorite trip?

My favorite trip was my first trip to Greece in Europe with my husband. We started off with a few days in Athens seeing all the tourist sights: The Acropolis (beautiful when illuminated at night!), the Plaka neighborhood, the beautiful market named Monastiraki, Syntagma Square and the Palace Guards, and a trip out to Vouliagmeni to see the Temple of Apollo.

From Athens we rented a car and drove around the Southern Peloponnese, stopping at the amazing Corinth Canal, and making many other stops along the way. Then, across to Olympia, home of the first Olympics, Delphi, and the monasteries of Meteora, built on pillars of stone. So much history and natural beauty, but also great people and great food.

During our last day in Mykonos, we swam in the clear blue waters of the Aegean, eating fresh seafood lunches by the water, drinking cold retsina. In the evening we wandered the endless cobblestone labyrinth of the streets of Mykonos. I remember seeing an older gentleman on one of those streets grilling a whole fish, cigarette hanging from his lips with a big bottle of lemon, olive oil, and herbs and he was dumping it over the grilled fish, it smelled heavenly.
